Ivan Calin known as the last chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Moldavian SSR, as well as the actual head of the republic during the chairmanship of the presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the MSSR. He also repeatedly elected deputy in the USSR as well as the modern Republic of Moldova. He was elected as member of the Parliament of Moldova in the 1998 election, 2005 election, April 2009 election and July 2009 election.
