I met Pauline in Spanish class and we became friends very quickly. I wish I had more time to know her better.
Pauline was someone I could say anything to without feeling judged. I believe she felt the same way about me. We spent our class-time, when we were able (as in, when the teacher, Mr. Santamaria's) back was turned, finding laughs in the most mundane and ridiculous things.
I don't remember when or how I found out about Pauline's untimely death but I remember feeling very powerless to express how unfair it was that I lost someone I cared so much about. Very selfish of me to think of myself at such a horrible time for Pauline's family. It shows just how unprepared for the realities of life I was at sixteen.
Now, I'd like to say to Pauline's family, I pray for you often, as often as I think about that pretty little young lady, I befriended and everyone lost that day in June. I'm so sorry for your loss and I have yet to find the perfect words to help heal your hearts and souls!
Friends forever, means forever,
Diana
