Sammy Johns He was a popular American country singer-songwriter. His the best success were his hit "Chevy Van". When the record was released in January 1975, it sold 3,5 million copies and made him an instant celebrity. During his career he wrote many hits for such country stars as Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty and John Conlee. Johns passed away on January 4, 2013 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
